Foodbank to Host “Summer Food Service Program” for Kids in Need in Hampton Roads
The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore will host a “Summer Food Service Program” for local children in need this summer.
The program will help feed kids who typically rely on school lunches and packed weekend meals during the school year, David Brandt, a spokesperson for the Foodbank, told 13 News Now.
According to the Foodbank, summer meal sites will be conveniently located in low-income neighborhoods so that participating children can walk or bike to receive meals in a safe, supportive environment.
This program comes at a time when not only families are struggling to feed their children, but food banks are continuously battling the challenge to keep food stocked up. They are asking for the community’s help to restock their supplies. Learn more about how to donate here.

Meals will be provided, on a first-come, first-serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:
